Tiu powers ROS over NLEX, 107-101

PBA News 2018: Chris Tiu powered the Rain or Shine Elastopainters over the NLEX Road Warriors, 107-101 in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum this Saturday. Tiu lifted ROS with his 30 buckets, 5 dimes, and 4 caroms as the Elastopainters missed the presence of import Terrence Watson due to emergency leave.

Notes:

➤ The 33-year-old Tiu, who was picked seventh in the 2012 draft by ROS, established a new career-high in dropping 30 points. His contract with the Elastopainters is also set to expire this season.

ROS led big by as much 20 points, 101-81 in the fourth quarter.

➤ Big man Norbert Torres also backstopped ROS with 12 points and 13 boards, Jewel Ponferada added 13 points.

➤ Import Aaron Fuller paced the losing Road Warriors with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 dishes.

➤ Rain or Shine finished their Governors’ Cup campaign and wounded-up with 3-10 win-loss slate. NLEX, meanwhile, reached the PBA quarterfinals despite the loss as they dropped to 7th place on a 5-6 record.

PBA News 2018: Talk ‘N Text rips Rain or Shine, 110-104 this Saturday evening in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup in Passi City Iloilo. Import Marcus Blakely paced TNT with his 26 points and 14 rebounds, while RR Pogoy contributed 14 buckets.

Notes:

Talk ‘N Text deployed a well-balanced offense as they registered 27 assists against 16 total by the Elastopainters, and shot better from the 2-point clip with 22 of 42 goals (52%) compared to ROS’ 23 of 48 (47%).

Bong Ravena debuted as head coach for the KaTropa to replace outgoing coach Nash Racela.

J’Nathan Bullock led the losing ROS with 23 markers and 5 boards, while James Yap added 21 points and 6 boards.

➤ TNT is now 3-4 in the Governors’ Cup, while Rain or Shine dropped to 0-1 after losing their opener.

PBA News 2018: Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings advanced to the Finals as it stomped Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 96-94, in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup this Monday at the Araneta Coliseum. Greg Slaughter powered the Gin Kings  with his 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists, while Joe Devance also contributed 19 markers, 6 assists and 3 steals.

Notes:

Justin Brownlee was limited to only 12 buckets,17 boards and 8 assists.

Reggie Johnson fought for the losing ROS with his 22 buckets, 16 boards and 5 assists, while Raymund Almazan also added 13 points and 6 rebounds.

Barangay Ginebra had four players in double figures.

Ginebra will next face in the PBA Finals the San Miguel Beermen this Friday, July 27 at the Araneta Coliseum.

PBA News 2018: Justin Brownlee‘s 44 points lifted Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings over Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 75-72, to lead 2-1 in their Semifinals face-off in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup this Saturday at the MOA Arena. Brownlee posted incredible numbers as he also crunched 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals, while “El Tinyente” LA Tenorio also contributed 13 markers, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Notes:

Reggie Johnson paced the losing Elasto Painters with 13 buckets and 22 boards, while beanpole Raymund Almazan added 12 points and 9 caroms.

Ginebra led by as much as 25 points beginning in the second quarter 43-18, courtesy of Brownlee’s 25 first half points.

➤ Game 4 will be Monday, July 23 at the Araneta Coliseum.

PBA News 2018: Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings torched Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 102-89, en route to Game 1 victory in their Semifinals matchup in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup this Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum. Justin Brownlee once again backstopped Barangay Ginebra with incredible 35 big points, 14 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 blocks. Negros Sniper Jeff Chan also proved his mettle with his 21 markers and 4 boards.

➤ Ginebra is now riding an eight-game winning streak. They lead the Semifinals series opposite ROS with a 1-0 win-loss slate.

Import Reggie Johnson powered the losing Painters with 30 buckets and 13 caroms, while James Yap added 15 markers and 8 rebounds.

Japeth Aguilar did not play due to Achilles tendon injury. Greg Slaughter made-up for big man duties as he defended against Johnson and also scored 20 points and hauled 6 rebounds.

PBA News 2018: GlobalPort Batang Pier shocked Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 114-113, and force a winner-takes-all in their best-of-three series in 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Quarterfinals this Tuesday at the Araneta Coliseum. Import Malcolm White paved the way for Batang Pier with his 28 points and 16 rebounds, while Jonathan Grey dropped the clutch three in the dying seconds of the game to finish with 22 points.

Notes:

GlobalPort and Rain or Shine are now tied 1-1 in their best-of-three quarterfinals showdown.
White was saddled with foul troubles and sat the game with 1:57 remaining in the 3rd before returning in the last 6:12 of the 4th quarter.
➤ The Painters led by as much 16 points in the 3rd canto but failed to sustain their charge and eventually lost steam in the final minutes of the game.

Stanley Pringle also contributed 21 markers, 9 caroms and 9 assists.

Reggie Johnson stood out for the Painters with his 24 buckets, 15 boards, and 7 dishes, while beanpole Raymund Almazan shared 17 points and 11 rebounds.
