PBA Finals News 2018: Magnolia Hotshots won anew over the Alaska Aces, 77-71 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in Game 2 of their Finals series in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup this Friday at the Araneta Coliseum. Jio Jalalon converted the Hotshots’ last six points in crunchtime to secure the Magnolia victory. Jalalon finished with 7 points and 7 rebounds, while import Romeo Travis led with 24 buckets and 9 boards.

➤ Post operator Ian Sangalang also contributed 11 points and 5 rebounds for Magnolia, while ace guard Paul Lee made 8 points and 4 rebounds.

Magnolia secured the game with impeccable defense over the Aces, causing 26 turnovers to Alaska courtesy of 20 total steals. The Hotshots also moved the ball better, dishing out 19 assists compared to the Aces 17 total.

➤ Reinforcement Mike Harris paced the Aces with 22 points and 13 caroms, while “muscle man” Vic Manuel had 10 points and 5 rebounds.

➤ Game 3 will be at the Ynares Center in Antipolo this Sunday, December 9.

PBA Semifinals News 2018: Alaska Aces knocked out the Meralco Bolts, 99-92 to enter the Finals of the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup this Saturday at the Cuneta Astrodome. Reinforcement Mike Harris starred for Alaska with his 27 buckets and 14 rebounds, while JVee Casio made 14 points.

Notes:

➤ It was an all-around team effort for the Aces as Vic Manuel, Jeron Teng, and Kevin Racal all made 10 buckets apiece. Alaska is poised to reenter the PBA Finals after missing the cut for two years straight.

➤ Import Allen Durham powered the Bolts with his 31 points and 14 rebounds but fell short of leading them to a third straight Governors’ Cup championship appearance. Veteran Reynel Hugnatan also added 13 markers for Meralco.

Alaska and Magnolia will battle for Game 1 of the best-of-seven PBA Finals series on December 5.

Alaska freezes Meralco, 100-95

PBA Semifinals 2018: Alaska Aces froze the Meralco Bolts, 100-95 to level their Semifinals series to 1-1 in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup this Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena. Import Mike Harris posted monstrous numbers for the Aces with his double-double of 37 markers and 19 boards, while Simon Enciso uncorked 23 buckets with 15 coming from three-point bombs.

Notes:

➤ Ace guard Chris Banchero also registered 13 points, 11 caroms and 8 dimes while post-operators Vic Manuel and Noy Baclao contributed 7 and 6 points apiece.

➤ The Aces effectively halted the Meralco onslaught as the defeat was only the first loss of the Bolts for the month.

➤ Alaska had impeccable free-throw shooting, with 20 of 21 charities made (95%) compared to the Bolts 13 of 19 (68%). They also outrebounded Meralco, hauling 48 caroms compared to 35 total.

➤ Meanwhile, reinforcement Allen Durham powered the defeated Bolts with 24 baskets, 12 dishes and 9 boards while Nico Salva also added 20 points.

Alaska and Meralco will resume hostilities for Game 3 of their Best-of-Five series showdown this Thursday, November 14 at the Cuneta Astrodome.

PBA News 2018: Alaska Aces struck down the San Miguel Beermen, 96-85 to enter the Semifinal round of the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup this Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome. Reinforcement Mike Harris starred for the Aces with a monstrous 25 buckets and 17 boards output, while Simon Enciso added 15 markers.

Notes:

Alaska exacted revenge on the Beermen who eliminated them during the last conference, the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs.

➤ The Aces showed better offensive arsenal against SMB, converting 40 of 88 shots for a 45% field goal percentage, to San Miguel’s 32 of 86 (37%). Alaska also hauled more rebounds, securing 57 caroms to the Beermen’s 52 total.

➤ Import Kevin Murphy backstopped the eliminated Beermen with 19 markers, 8 caroms, and 5 dimes.

➤ Meanwhile. a minor scuffle happened between Chris Ross and Vic Manuel, with both earning technical fouls for the infraction.

➤ The Aces will next face the winner of the quarterfinals knockout match between Phoenix and Meralco this Friday, November 9.

PBA News 2018: Alaska Aces gained the twice-to-beat advantage, as it trounced NorthPort Batang Pier, 95-85 this Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum in preparation for their 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup playoffs campaign. Import Mike Harris once more led the Gatas Republik with his 27 markers, 25 caroms, and 5 dimes, while guard Chris Banchero chipped-in 15 buckets and 5 assists.

Notes:

➤ Power forward Jeron Teng also added 13 points and 4 boards for the Aces, while veteran slotman Vic Manuel made 12 markers and 7 boards.

➤ The Aces shot better from trey territory, as they made 6 of 24 three-point bombs (25%), against NorthPort‘s 1 of 21 (4%). Alaska also moved the ball better with 27 assists total, opposed to Pier’s 14 dimes.

➤ Reinforcement Rashad Woods paced the defeated Batang Pier with his 33 points and 13 rebounds, while ace ball-handler Stanley Pringle dropped 15 buckets.

➤ The Aces are now at 8-3 win-loss slate as they begin their playoff campaign. NorthPort, meanwhile, ended their Governors’ Cup run with a 2-9 record.

PBA News 2018: NLEX Road Warriors outlasted the Alaska Aces in overtime, 116-110, to continue their campaign in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup this Friday at Ynares Center in Antipolo. Import Aaron Fuller dropped a ferocious double-double as he made 42 buckets and 22 caroms, while JR Quiñahan added 15 points and 9 boards.

Notes:

➤ The Aces were still in the lead, 110-109 with barely a minute remaining, but Quiñahan‘s dagger trey elevated the Road Warriors to surge ahead 112-110. He later sealed the win for NLEX by securing four clutch free throw conversions.

➤ NLEX led in the rebounds department with 57 caroms total compared to Alaska’s 52, they also moved the ball better with 31 assists against the Aces’ 27.

➤ Reinforcement Mike Harris whipped-up his own double-double for the losing Aces as he dropped 35 points and 26 rebounds, while muscle-man Vic Manuel chipped-in 22 markers and 5 caroms.

➤ NLEX is now 5-5 in the Governors’ Cup and is one victory away from entering the quarterfinals, while the Aces dropped to second place with a 7-3 win-loss record.

Reinforcement NBA veteran Mike Harris powered the Aces with his gargantuan 39 points and 25 caroms, while guard Chris Banchero added 16 points, 13 dimes, and 7 boards.

➤ Beau Belga paced the losing Elastopainters with his 20 points, while import Terrence Watson (replaced J’Nathan Bullock), had a regrettable performance as he made only 10 buckets and 13 rebounds.

PBA 2018: Justin Brownlee carried the mighty Barangay Ginebra over the Alaska Aces, 109-101 in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup this Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum. Brownlee toyed with his near triple-double of 45 buckets, 11 boards and 9 dimes, while high-flyer Japeth Aguilar made 24 points and 10 caroms.

Notes:

Kevin Ferrer and Greg Slaughter also contributed 11 and 9 points apiece for the Gin Kings.

➤ The losing Alaska got stellar numbers from Vic Manuel who crunched 28 points and 4 rebounds, while Mike Harris added 23 markers and 19 rebounds. Harris did not return for the fourth quarter due to probable injury.

➤ Aces guard Chris Banchero meanwhile continued his stellar form as he dropped 21 points, 10 assists and 5 boards for Alaska who lost their first game of the conference.

➤ Ginebra is vying for their third straight PBA Governors’ Cup trophy.

➤ Ginebra is now at 2-0 win-loss slate, while Alaska is at 3-1.

PBA News 2018: San Miguel Beermen entered the Finals as it eliminated the Alaska Aces, 104-99, in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup this Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum. “The Kraken” Junemar Fajardo powered SMB with his 26 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks, while import Renaldo Balkman also chipped-in 23 buckets, 16 caroms and 5 assists. Meanwhile, Alex Cabagnot‘s trey shot with 34 seconds remaining sealed the game for the Beermen, 100-92.

Notes:

Cabagnot ended-up with 18 markers, 9 assists and 5 rebounds.

➤ Diamon Simpson led the losing Aces with 24 markers, 21 caroms and 4 dishes, while Vic Manuel also contributed 20 points and 4 steals.

Manuel is now out of the PBA BPC – Best Player of the Conference contention as they bowed out of the Semifinals. He is currently at second place with 37.58 statistical points, while Fajardo leads with 38.77 SPs.

➤ San Miguel will next face in the FInals the winner of the ongoing Semifinals war between Rain or Shine and Ginebra.

PBA News 2018: San Miguel Beermen cracked the Alaska Aces, 92-79, and bagged Game 1 of their Best-of-Five duel in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Semifinals this Saturday at the MOA Arena. Four time PBA MVP Junemar Fajardo carried the Beermen storm with his 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals.

Notes:

➤ Alex Cabagnot also added 15 buckets and 5 assists for the Beermen, while Renaldo Balkman managed to chip-in a double-double of 13 points and 11 caroms.

Alaska big man Diamon Simpson led the defeated Aces with gargantuan 31 points, 24 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks while Vic Manuel dropped 16 points and 6 boards. Manuel’s 20 points-a-game streak was halted today (11 games total).

➤ SMB now leads the Milkmen 1-0 in their Semifinals battle. They will resume court hostilities on Monday July 16 at the Araneta Coliseum.
