San Miguel halts Blackwater, 115-106

PBA News 2018: San Miguel Beermen halted the BlackWater Elite, 115-106, to barge into the quarterfinals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup 2018 this Wednesday at MOA Arena in Pasay. Veteran Arwind Santos carried the Beermen to its third straight victory with 23 big buckets and 15 rebounds . Marcio Lassiter also contributed 18 points while journeyman Kelly Nabong added 13 markers.

Notes:

SMB now sports a 6-4 win-loss slate and ranks 5th in the quarterfinals standings.

➤ Prized Puerto Rican import Renaldo Balkman was limited to only 12 points the entire ballgame.

➤ Four-time MVP June Mar Fajardo had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Henry Walker provided 26 points and 12 caroms for the losing Elite, while Mike DiGregorio chipped-in 19 points.

➤ San Miguel’s bench outscored Blackwater 56-27.

➤ The Elite notched its 10th loss in 11 games in the Commissioner’s Cup and dropped to last in standings (12th).

PBA News 2018: Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots cracked the NLEX Road Warriors, 116-89, to share 6th place in the quarterfinals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup 2018 this Wednesday at MOA Arena in Pasay. Import Wayne Chism lifted the Hotshots with his 27 monstrous points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks, while “Angas ng Tondo” Paul Lee posted 21 markers.

Notes:

  • Magnolia Hotshots now has the same 5-5 win-loss slate with Barangay Ginebra Kings and Globalport Batang Pier and 6th place in the quarterfinal round.
  • NLEX bowed out of contention and dropped to a dismal 2-9 slate.
  • The Hotshots are coming off a four game losing skid before winning against NLEX.
  • Coming back from wrist injury, Ian Sangalang made 9 points for Magnolia.
  • Reinforcement Oluseyi Ashaolu provided 31 points and 12 boards for the Road Warriors while Mac Tallo contributed 19 points.

San Miguel Beermen wallops NLEX Road Warriors, 125-114

June 24, 2018 – Calasiao Sports

San Miguel routed NLEX, 125-114, in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup 2018 this Saturday at the Calasiao Sports Complex in Pangasinan. Junemar Fajardo led the spirited Beermen with 30 points and 13 rebounds, while power import Renaldo Balkman contributed 25 markers and 16 boards. Long range sniper Marcio Lassiter also chipped-in 26 buckets on 6 of 9 treys. Arnett Moultrie, meanwhile, backstopped the losing Road Warriors with monstrous 43 points and 16 caroms.

Notes:

The Road Warriors were missing the services of Kevin Alas and Larry Fonacier due to injury, while Kiefer Ravena is still under FIBA suspension.

The game was a resurgence of sorts for veteran Asi Taulava who added the rainbow bomb to his arsenal, shooting five total three points. He finished with 18 points in the game for the Road Warriors.

The win seals a sure playoff berth for the Beermen as Fajardo departs for Gilas tip-off against Taiwan on June 29th.
