PBA News 2018: Meralco Bolts mauled the San Miguel Beermen, 111-81 in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup this Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum. Import Allen Durham led the Bolts with freakish 35 points, 26 boards, and 7 dimes, while power veteran Reynel Hugnatan turned back father time to contribute 19 points and 6 caroms.

Notes:

Chris Newsome also chipped-in 14 points and 12 assists, while diminutive point guard Baser Amer added 12 buckets and 10 assists.

➤ Import Kevin Murphy starred for the losing Beermen with his 32 points and 10 rebounds, while Alex Cabagnot had 16 points for SMB who saw their four-game winning streak unceremoniously halted.

➤ The Bolts are now in the hunt for the last quarterfinals slot as they await the outcome of the last game of Talk ‘ N Text KaTropa who’s now at 4-6. PBA News 2018: Chris Tiu powered the Rain or Shine Elastopainters over the NLEX Road Warriors, 107-101 in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum this Saturday. Tiu lifted ROS with his 30 buckets, 5 dimes, and 4 caroms as the Elastopainters missed the presence of import Terrence Watson due to emergency leave.

Notes:

➤ The 33-year-old Tiu, who was picked seventh in the 2012 draft by ROS, established a new career-high in dropping 30 points. His contract with the Elastopainters is also set to expire this season.

ROS led big by as much 20 points, 101-81 in the fourth quarter.

➤ Big man Norbert Torres also backstopped ROS with 12 points and 13 boards, Jewel Ponferada added 13 points.

➤ Import Aaron Fuller paced the losing Road Warriors with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 dishes.

UAAP News 2018: The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons smashed the National University Bulldogs, 82-71 to stay in contention in the 2018 UAAP Season 81 Men’s basketball this Saturday at the Ynares Center. Import Bright Akhuetie led the Maroons with his 21 markers and 10 boards, while Paul Desiderio added 12 buckets.

UP is raring to enter the UAAP Final Four as they are now in solo fourth place in the standings behind UST and FEU (both at identical 5-6).

UAAP News 2018: The De La Salle Green Archers ravaged the UST Growling Tigers, 110-69 in the UAAP Season 81 Men’s basketball this Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. Aljun Melecio wowed with season-high 22 markers and 6 dimes for DLSU, while import Mark Dyke contributed 16 points and 6 caroms.

➤ The Green Archers led by as big as 48 points in the fourth quarter with a minute remaining. The victory was the second of DLSU over former coach Aldin Ayo, now the mentor of the Tigers.

Alvin Caracut and Jollo Go also contributed 15 and 14 points for La Salle respectively.

➤ Guard Marvin Lee paced the defeated Tigers with his 26 points, while CJ Cansino chipped-in 14 markers.

PBA News 2018Barangay Ginebra secured the twice-to-beat advantage, as they ravaged Magnolia Hotshots, 93-86 this Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum as a primer for their 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup playoffs campaign. Justin Brownlee powered the Gin Kings with his 29 buckets, 12 boards, and 7 dimes, while Japeth Aguilar added 17 markers and 6 rebounds.

Notes:

➤ Big man Greg Slaughter also made his presence felt for Barangay as he chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds, while veterans Sol Mercado and LA Tenorio made 9 points each respectively.

➤ Ginebra almost lost the ballgame in clutch time as Magnolia engineered a 9-0 unanswered run to trim an 89-75 Gins lead to only 5 points with 34 ticks remaining. A late Jio Jalalon turnover, however, resulted in a Brownlee easy bucket which sealed the Ginebra win.

➤ Barangay Ginebra mastered the paint to stifle Magnolia, as they hauled 49 rebounds compared to Hotshots 47, and registered 8 swats to Magnolia’s 2 blocks total.

➤ Import Romeo Travis paced the losing Magnolia with 30 points and 7 rebounds, while clutch guard Paul Lee added 21 buckets.

➤ Ginebra is now at the top of the Governors’ Cup heap with an 8-2 record, while Magnolia went down to an 8-3 win-loss slate.

Import Mike Harris once more led the Gatas Republik with his 27 markers, 25 caroms, and 5 dimes, while guard Chris Banchero chipped-in 15 buckets and 5 assists.

PBA News 2018: Magnolia Hotshots secured the top-seed as it cracked Talk ‘N Text KaTropa, 116-103, in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup this Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. Low-post operator Ian Sangalang paced the Hotshots with his 28 markers and 6 boards while Mark Barroca chipped-in 21 points.

Notes:

➤ Ace guard Paul Lee also added 19 points, 8 dimes and 8 caroms for Magnolia, while import Romeo Travis made 18 buckets.

Magnolia outmuscled TNT in the paint as they hauled 62 rebounds against TNT’s 38, and also shot better from the trey territory making 11 of 24 (45%) three points to KaTropa’s 12 of 35 (34%).

Terrence Romeo starred for the losing KaTropa as he dropped 23 markers, while Troy Rosario contributed 21 points. Reinforcement and former Hotshots import Marcus Blakely had a triple-double as he registered 17 goals, 18 rebounds, and 11 dishes.

➤ National mainstay Jayson Castro who returned from bone spurs foot injury managed to add 13 points for Talk ‘N Text.

➤ League leader Magnolia (8-2) just booked a twice-to-beat advantage as they enter the conference quarterfinals. Meanwhile, TNT who dropped to 4-6, is now in a must-win situation as they battle Ginebra on Sunday, November 4 for a possible entry into Governors’ Cup quarterfinals.

PBA News 2018: NLEX Road Warriors outlasted the Alaska Aces in overtime, 116-110, to continue their campaign in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup this Friday at Ynares Center in Antipolo. Import Aaron Fuller dropped a ferocious double-double as he made 42 buckets and 22 caroms, while JR Quiñahan added 15 points and 9 boards.

Notes:

➤ The Aces were still in the lead, 110-109 with barely a minute remaining, but Quiñahan‘s dagger trey elevated the Road Warriors to surge ahead 112-110. He later sealed the win for NLEX by securing four clutch free throw conversions.

➤ NLEX led in the rebounds department with 57 caroms total compared to Alaska’s 52, they also moved the ball better with 31 assists against the Aces’ 27.

➤ Reinforcement Mike Harris whipped-up his own double-double for the losing Aces as he dropped 35 points and 26 rebounds, while muscle-man Vic Manuel chipped-in 22 markers and 5 caroms.

➤ NLEX is now 5-5 in the Governors’ Cup and is one victory away from entering the quarterfinals, while the Aces dropped to second place with a 7-3 win-loss record.

NCAA News 2018: Lyceum Pirates entered the NCAA Finals anew, as it cracked the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights, 109-85 in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball this Friday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. Mike Nzeusseu powered the Pirates with his 23 buckets and 17 boards while reigning MVP CJ Perez added 19 markers and 4 swipes.

NCAA News 2018: San Beda Red Lions entered the NCAA Finals, as they eliminated Perpetual Help Altas, 83-72 in the 2018 NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball this Friday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. San Beda star Robert Bolick led the Red Lions with his 24 markers, 4 caroms, and 6 dishes, while JV Mocon chipped-in 14 buckets and 15 rebounds.
